What I Wore - Peplum Blazer

I don't know if I ever got around to showing the polka dot tank that I made a while back but here it is out in the wild.

New In - Striped Fabric

While out thrifting I managed to find fabric that I think would fit perfectly as a blanket piece that I've been craving lately. There isn't as much of it as I would like, but there is definitely enough to make something fun and warm. I originally wanted to make a blanket coat with a big exaggerated collar but with this fabric I'll have to go in a different direction. I haven't decided yet, but this will probably end up being a poncho or a sweater with a wide collar. I will definitely show you the end product!

What I Wore - Black on Black / Leather on Leather

Fall is turning out to be cool and extremely dark, the same can be said about what I'm wearing.

What I Wore - Various Browns

I've mentioned I don't like wearing browns and yet here's an outfit featuring multiple shades. Nothing against the colour itself, I just don't like the idea of wearing the same colour as my skin. Personally I like the idea of contrast.

Because I already have a basic black winter coat, I believe my closet would benefit from a more exciting backup coat. What’s more fun than a blanket coat? Snugly and warm, how can it get better? Personally I’m really digging the Stella McCartney at bottom left.

What I Wore - Blue and Brown

Still catching up on the outfit pictures I have laying around on my camera. And still missing the days I could wear sandals.

New In - Printed Blouse

A little over a week ago I made a post about my love of printed blouses for fall, and voila, I managed to snatch a new one for myself. I wasn't looking to buy a new blouse but then I saw this one... I had to have it. I personal love abstract/graphic prints over any other print, so whenever I see one, there is a definite yearning to own. I like this long-sleeve blouse because I can wear it whenever and however I want.

What I Wore - Lazy Summer Day

For some reason I have a couple of outfit pictures I never got around to putting up here. So excuse me while I slowly catch up on those. This is from when it used to be warm around here. Awww, how I miss those days!

New In - African Waxprint Fabric

I recently spent a couple days in Stockholm, which means... I had time to do some shopping. In between checking out clothes, I stopped by a fabric shop looking for something interesting. That's when I happened upon this beauty. I've always wanted to make something out of an African waxprint. Unfortunately, they've never sold any at my local Montreal fabric store. Obviously I'm super excited I found this in Stockholm. I have no clue what I'll make out of it but I am really happy I bought it nonetheless.

Diy Newspaper Basket

You can file this one under things you do when you have WAY TOO MUCH time on your hands. During a recent tumble through the youtube rabbit hole, I stumbled on this user's videos on newspaper weaving. I figured if I had time I would try it out. I can't say I would recommend anyone else to try it, but I did do it and here's the result. For a first attempt it turned out okay. It feels just like a wicker basket and will fit on a shelf nicely to hold random things.

Diy White Skirt With Lace

On the blog almost two months ago now, I posted a quick picture of this fabric and mentioned I planned to make a skirt. I actually made the skirt a while ago just didn't get around to putting it up on the blog. Personally I really like the skirt and have worn it multiple times (before it got cold here). The thing is, I'm not a big fan of wearing brown and don't really have much that goes with it. So there is a small chance next summer I'll remove the lace part and just keep it a plain white skirt. I thought I had a picture of it on to show what it looks like worn but I don’t. I wanted to get a photo to put up with this one but the weather isn’t cooperating so... this will have to do.

For me, nothing really compares to wearing a printed blouse. With the weather getting cooler, a blouse works great as a fall layering piece. Just add a fun printed blouse under a cardigan or sweater and it spices up any outfit.

Busy Decorating

I know it's been a while since I've blogged. It's weird how you don't realize how long it's been or how infrequently you've blogged until you're about to write a new post. I've been a tad busy with other things that I haven't really had time to take pictures. Without pictures it doesn't really make sense coming here to tell you about it. Hopefully that is going to change from here on out.

Recently I've been busy with some home reno and decoration. Currently I'm concentrating on a craft/sewing room which I think is going to have a muted country chic look. Generally that hasn't really been my kind of decor (I'm personally more of a modern/abstract gal) but the ceiling is wood paneled and that lends itself more to a country decor. The decorating of the room is going to be a slow building process instead of the two day heavy duty reno ordeal that took place (painted the walls white, removed the carpet, and installed laminate wood flooring). The plan for the room is to be light and airy with a white, neutral, and green colour theme. I really want the room to be comprised of mostly second hand and diy pieces. At this moment, I'm focusing on pieces to go on the shelving unit. I would like the shelves to be full of craft books/magazines, cute storage boxes, and nice vases. So I took a quick trip to a local thrift store to see if I could find some pieces.

The amount of vases and ceramic pots the owner of the thrift store had was dizzying. The goal was to find a couple that matched but weren't too similar. I decided to go for beige and white ones with some texture and luckily I found three that worked. It always, without fail, manages to make me happy to find things second-hand and cheap (about $2 each) that looks like neither. Stay tuned, I plan on blogging about the process and diy projects that will fill the room in the future. However, I already have a sewing project that is already finished that is just waiting to be blogged about!
